Dustin Poirier may have a mental advantage over his next opponent UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira, according to MMA Gold head coach Jim West.
The Poirier and Oliveira title clash is the main event at UFC 269 on Dec. 11. Poirier is currently favored to win that fight.
“It’s not a disrespectful thing,” West said in an interview with The AllStar’s John Hyon Ko. “It’s just I think Dustin has more grit than Charles does. And I think his IQ of MMA is better than Charles. Those are the things that will come out in a five-round fight.”
West trains women’s bantamweight Aspen Ladd. MMA Gold is a professional fight team based in El Dorado, California.
