The AllStar is proud to present The Daily Swish, a digest of what’s shaking and baking in your favorite basketball league. This is the place to help you start your day (or end it) with notable newsy nuggets from around the association.

It was a night the teams favored to win the title this season would rather forget. Oklahoma City posted a record-tying comeback rally to beat the Lakers. And Sacramento’s Harrison Barnes gives us the season’s first buzzer-beating finish.

Making Headlines

Oklahoma City pulled off its first win of the season with a 26-point comeback against the Lakers last night. Officials ejected LA’s Russell Westbrook in the game’s final seconds, capping off a disastrous evening for the team. The result means all of the title favorites fell last night, with losses also to Brooklyn and Milwaukee.

The Lakers played again last night without LeBron James and four other injured players. Injuries are emerging as a factor in team fortunes, even though the season has barely begun.

The Athletic reports that Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine has a small ligament tear in the thumb of his non-shooting hand. The guard, who has been instrumental in his team’s 4-0 record, intends to play through the injury. Denver’s Nikola Jokic, meanwhile, seems to be ok after a knee scare two nights ago.

#What’sTrending

Yesterday, the Twitter spotlight shone brightly on the Lakers’ overtime win against the Spurs the previous night. Today, it was for quite a different reason.

Not that it’s much consolation to LA, but Westbrook did get yet another triple-double. And this humdinger of a finish.

Charles Barkley never wanted to be a role model. He’s always spoken his mind. And he’s the most up-voted topic on Reddit’s NBA sub:

Naturally, the Lakers’ implosion against OKC got some Reddit attention. As did this bit of trade gossip:

Performance of the Night

The other close game of the night was Atlanta’s narrow win over New Orleans. Trae Young (who else) was instrumental in the Hawks victory with 31 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. His scoring helped him hit a neat milestone too.
