Ramiz Brahimaj is aiming for an early finish against Court McGee this weekend.

It won’t be easy. At the upcoming UFC Fight Night, Brahimaj is matched against a seasoned stayer with 30 professional MMA fights. All of McGee‘s last 16 fights ended in decisions, except one – a loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio nearly six years ago.

For that reason, Brahimaj and his team are taking their preparation very seriously, the 29-year-old welterweight told The AllStar. While he sees ways to end the fight early, he’s getting ready for a “dog fight.”

“I understand his toughness, his durability. That’s a real thing,” Brahimaj said. “If you have 20 fights in the UFC or 19 fights in the UFC and you’ve only been finished once, that says a lot about you. That says that you’re a durable motherfucker. That’s something that I don’t underestimate at all and I’m definitely prepared for it.”

Tough talk, as one would expect from a fighter. With the toughness, though, comes “a ton of respect” for a fighter that a teenaged Brahimaj saw win The Ultimate Fighter.

“To watch that and now to be competing against him it’s a great honor for me,” Brahimaj said. “He’s had an amazing career. The guy has really fought the who’s who. He has a career that honestly he can definitely look back on and be proud of.

“The dude’s fought some of the biggest names in the game. From Robert Whittaker, Santiago Ponzinibbio, [Dhiego] Lima…the list goes on. Carlos Condit. He’s legitimately fought the who’s who of the sport.”

Respect or not, Brahimaj has a job to do on Jan. 15.

“I can see myself finishing him in the first, second, or third round,” the Fortis MMA prospect said. “Any kind of outcome I can see but as always I see myself as the victor. That’s just the way I envision this fight.

“I’m ready for 15 hard minutes. That doesn’t matter to me. At the end of that 15 minutes, I see my hand getting raised.”
