Undefeated flyweight prospect Gilbert Nakatani is aiming for a quick finish to preserve his clean professional record at LXF 7 this weekend.
The American faces veteran Mike Hansen in Commerce, California on Dec. 10. In an interview with The AllStar’s John Hyon Ko, Nakatani paid due respect to Hansen’s experience.
“I’m not sure what he has in store because he hasn’t fought in years,” Nakatani said. “So I’m just gonna continue to train hard and do what I have to do to come out victorious. He’s been in the pro ranks for a while so I’m just gonna have to battle and show him why the new breed, the new era is Gilbert Nakatani.”
None of Natakani’s three professional fights have gone the distance, with the fighter submitting two opponents and knocking out another.
“The same outcome is always on my mind is to get in and get out,” he said. “Just like back in the day when I used to wrestle in high school I never wanted to leave it to the score. I wanted to get in, pin him and get out. The faster I finish the better it is for me. The less risk of injury so I’m pushing for a first-round finish but I’m always preparing myself for a three-round war.”
