Philipe Lins feels his jiu-jitsu will overpower Maxim Grishin at UFC Vegas 61

On the heels of his first-ever UFC win, Lins offered thoughts on his opponent Maxim Grishin at UFC Fight Night: Dern vs Yan.

“I’m feeling like this matchup is going to be a great fight,” Lins stated to The AllStar. “Maxim is very great kickboxing, tall, long arms, long legs. But I’m ready for this matchup. I can’t wait to be there to do what I love to do. I’m ready and make a great strategy to fight him. Just wait to be there to do my job.”

He also noted the sambo training of Grishin and his notable wrestling defense. But Lins feels like his jiu-jitsu acumen will be a difference maker here in this looming contest.

The former 2018 PFL heavyweight champion feels like he has returned to his home; a far more natural weight category where he looks more ripped and feels stronger as well as faster than before. Lins previously fought at 205 pounds in Bellator years back and is seemingly getting his feet under him now in the UFC’s light heavyweight hierarchy.

The fight prediction that Lins provided indicated a level of humility but also a desire to have an exciting fight en route to a triumphant victory.

“Like I said, I’m always looking for a finish my fight and of course, I want to finish my fight. Of course, I want to make more money. Make fifty G’s more for a performance of the night or knockout of the night. But this is the high level, I need to be smart and just make a good strategy with my teammates. I’ll go there and I’m gonna do what I need to do to won that fight. I’m gonna put on a show for you guys. This is my wish and I will.”
