Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez is now five fights deep into his UFC career and feels as if he’s gained some valuable momentum. His last performance against Josh Fremd at UFC 273 was action-packed and opened the eyes of many when it comes to the Cali native’s potential.

Now looking to build off of that performance, Hernandez is looking to put on a similar showing against Marc-André Barriault at UFC Vegas 60 on September 17th.

“I showed that I can put a fucking hell of a pace on (and) break someone. Like, no matter where the fight goes I’m going to try and like, take their soul basically and make them want to fucking give up – I was able to show that last fight and I plan on showing that again (in) this next fight.”

Fans of Hernandez can expect more of the same in his next bout. “Fluffy” rates his upcoming opponent as a fighter who is cut from a similar cloth. According to him, Barriault is the type of fighter who won’t shy away from a fire-fight, providing the perfect concoction for an entertaining scrap.

“He comes to fight – he’ll walk you down, try to fuck you up. To me, this is fucking like, it’s going to be a fun ass fight personally. Like, we both have very similar styles, we both like to fucking trade – I’m fucking looking forward to this fight a lot. I think it’s gonna be a fan-pleaser, you know? Yeah, it’s gonna be a fucking fun one.”

While he is certainly tempted to make this a firefight, Hernandez knows better than to do that at this point of his career. With his next moves in mind, he’s more aware than ever that how reckless he performs could affect his timeline moving forward.

“I really do want to strike with this guy just because he likes to strike too – it would be a fun fight. We’ll see, we’ll see – I’m going to obviously follow my game plan and try to be smart. That way I can have another quick turnaround because if I do fucking sit there and slug it out – I’m probably going to have to worry about cuts and I don’t know, fucking hand injuries because people got hard-ass heads, man.”

With that being said, Hernandez isn’t all too concerned with what could be next for him if he earns the victory. The 28-year-old is maintaining his focus on this bout for now, and perhaps he’ll pivot to what could be down the line after his next contest.

“Everything will happen in the right time (and) in the right place. I’m always going to work my fucking ass off and I’m always going to show up and try to fucking lay it all on the line. So, I’m just gonna go with faith on this, you know – I definitely want to go out there and make another fucking statement though. Because obviously, like you said the money goes up, all that shit. I want it all, I’m coming to leave a fucking legacy behind. When I die I want people to remember my name so, I’m fucking all in.”
