Lakers vs Heat Pick
It could be poor timing for the Los Angeles Lakers as they welcome a fired-up Miami Heat to town. The Heat will be looking to bounce back from Monday’s emotionally-charged loss to the Nuggets.
It’s the first meeting of the season between these two injury-riddled teams. Miami have enjoyed a much better start, going 6-1 before suffering double digit losses to Boston and Denver. The Lakers have struggled with LeBron James out of the lineup, dropping games to the Thunder and Trail Blazers.
Despite the injuries, the Lakers have plenty of talent. Carmelo Anthony is second in the league in points off the bench and threes this season with incredible shooting splits of 50/52/83%.
Miami lead the league in rebounds but could see a dip in this game with Bam Adebayo questionable due to a bruised knee. Adebayo also makes Miami one of the best defensive starting units in the league so his absence will be felt.
The Heat currently limit opponents to 101.5 points per game, good enough for second in the league. Their games however have gone over 214.5 points on four occasions this season and their average combined total is 215 points. Totals for Lakers games have gone over 214.5 points seven times this season so we’re expecting a high-scoring affair.
Pick: Over 214.5
