The AllStar is proud to present The Daily Swish, a digest of what’s shaking and baking in your favorite basketball league. This is the place to help you start your day (or end it) with notable newsy nuggets from around the association.
The Chicago Bulls won again and are off to their best season start in 25 years. Boston and Jason Tatum beat Charlotte. More dunks than NBA Jam.
Making Headlines
The Bulls moved to 4-0 last night after beating the Toronto Raptors last night. It’s Chicago’s best start since the 1996-97 season, thanks in part to some valuable off-season retooling. DeMar DeRozan had 26 points against the team with which he spent his first nine years in the league.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics needed overtime and 41 points from Jayson Tatum to hand the Charlotte Hornets their first loss of the season. Miles Bridges and LaMelo Ball had 25 points apiece for Charlotte, which was denied its first 4-0 start in franchise history.
Nice work if you can get it: A pair of sneakers worn by Michael Jordan in his rookie season sold for a record $1.47 million at a Sotheby’s auction in Las Vegas. The Nike Air Ships were designed by the same sneaker legend who created the Air Force 1s.

#What’sTrending
The league gave its nod to its best players for the season’s opening week. Golden State are 3-0, thanks to some Stephen Curry heroics. Charlotte had the same results until dropping their first game to the Celtics last night.
Speaking of Miles Bridges. Yes, we quite agree with the wise wizards at Slam.
Lot of big dunks last night in the NBA. We can’t give them all Play of the Day, but this monster from Jaylen Brown was pretty close.
Best of r/NBA
In Reddit land, the day’s most upvoted post focused on the current era of player empowerment. And the more uncomfortable elements it presents.
The second-most upvoted post went to Lauri Markkanen demolishing Nikola Jokic (yes, our Play of the Day). The day’s No. 3 post was LeBron James ruminating on what it means to play with someone who could be your son.
Performance of the Night
No guesses who we like.
Play of the Day
MVP? What MVP?! Cleveland’s Lauri Markkanen shows complete disregard for Nikola Jokic’s attempt to draw a charge. For our Play of the Day.
