It was a full day of NBA preseason action with 18 teams on court. The Warriors looked good in Portland but Stephen Curry may need a new trick after a new rule was firmly enforced.
Making Headlines
The Golden State Warriors wasted no time getting shots up in their 121-107 preseason win over the Portland Trail Blazers. The Warriors attempted 69 3-pointers, just one shy of the Houston Rockets’ 2019 in-game record for shots beyond the arc. Golden State never shot more than 54 treys in a game last season. Coach Steve Kerr confirmed: “We’re going to take a ton of threes this year.”
Warriors guard Andrew Wiggins spoke for the first time after getting vaccinated. He received one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and experienced body aches and chills. Wiggins claims that “the only options were to get vaccinated or not play in the NBA. It was a tough decision.” The vaccine didn’t appear to impact his performance as he finished with 13 points in 16 minutes against the Blazers.
Detroit Pistons fans may have to wait a little longer before seeing Cade Cunningham in action. This year’s first overall draft pick rolled his ankle in training camp and the Pistons aren’t taking any risks. Head coach Dwayne Casey indicated “we’re going to be cautious” before revealing there is no timetable for the rookie’s return.
