Golden State and Chicago lose tight games to record their first losses of the season. The Grizzlies’ Ja Morant drops 30 on the Dubs.

Making Headlines

Morant and the Grizzlies overcame a 19-point deficit to beat Golden State in overtime. Let’s face it, Ja versus Steph is always going to be entertaining. Morant’s confidence as a leader is growing and his teammates are responding. Meanwhile, the Warriors committed far too many turnovers and Steph went cold in the final quarter. He still finished with 36 points…

Chicago took their first L of the season, with a scrappy one-point loss to New York. The Knicks shot slightly better from the floor and were just a shade quicker than their Midwest opponents. Chicago guard Zach LaVine scored 25 points, despite playing with a torn ligament in his left thumb.

During the game, the Bulls celebrated the career of former center Joakim Noah and named him a team ambassador. The 36-year-old Noah got a standing ovation from the crowd during a video tribute in the second quarter.

Speaking of Shaq, his comments on motivating his children were the most up-voted post on the NBA sub-Reddit.

Miami’s Udonis Haslem, now in his 19th NBA season, hit out at Heat detractors. It’s like the Hulk… “don’t make me angry.”

Performance of the Night

Joel Embiid had a great night and almost got our nod. We’re giving it however to Ja Morant, who returned to his 30-point ways and helped his Grizz out of a deep hole.

Play of the Day

Today’s honors go to Chicago’s Alex Caruso, with a sweet dime. Pity they lost. But they still claim our Play of the Day.
