Wizards vs Hornets Prediction
The Wizards and Hornets locked horns last week with Charlotte coming away with a 97-87 victory. The loss in Charlotte marked the end of Washington’s five-game winning streak. Washington have since split two games with the Heat and Charlotte defeated Indiana but lost to Atlanta.
Washington have been one of the biggest surprise packages of the season. The Wizards raced out to a 5-1 record and boast a 7-1 record at home. The players are feeding off the home support saying every home game has a “playoff-like atmosphere.”
The Wizards may be playing well but their star player Bradley Beal is having one of the worst seasons of his career. The All-Star guard is shooting just 42.8% from the field and 27.8% from deep. His average of 23.9 points per game is his worst since 2017-18.
It has been the Wizards’ defense that has carried the team to one of the top records in the East. Washington rank third with an adjusted 103.7 defensive rating. They’ll need all their defensive prowess to keep the high scoring Hornets at bay.
The Hornets may have plenty of offensive firepower but they struggle on defense. They’re ranked 21st in the league with a net rating of 109.4. If Bradley Beal finds his shooting touch and other Wizards players like Kentavious Caldwell-Pop and Spencer Dinwiddie continue to make their shots, it will be a long night for Charlotte fans.
Back the Wizards to cover the spread at home. Washington’s fantastic home record and solid defense should ensure they get it done.
Pick: Washington Wizards -4
