The UFC has been forced to remove a fight from its UFC 267 mixed martial arts events scheduled for October 30, 2021.
The scheduled UFC Bantamweight Championship fight between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan has been scrapped from the fight card after Sterling was forced to withdraw from the contest.
Had the fight taken place, the betting odds were in favor of Yan at -300 while Sterling was the betting underdog at +255.
Sterling and Yan most recently appeared at UFC 259. Sterling won the UFC Bantamweight title by disqualification. Yan landed an illegal knee to the head of Sterling while he was a grounded opponent causing the disqualification. Sterling went into the fight as a small underdog at +105, while Yan came in at -115 near even. The win extended Sterling’s winning streak to 6 in a row while snapping a 10 fight winning streak for Yan.
UFC 267 will now proceed with 13 bouts. UFC is expected to announce the revised fight card and new title fight shortly to make it official. This is the 1st fight to be cancelled on this card.
UFC 267 is headlined by a UFC Light Heavyweight Championship fight between Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira.
