Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has become the first NBA player to sign with Kanye West’s sports agency Donda Sports.
Brown will be following in the footsteps of Super Bowl winner Aaron Donald who called the decision to join the sports marketing agency a “no-brainer”.
TMZ shared the motivation behind Donda Sports teaming up with Jaylen Brown. “We’re told Donda eyed the Eastern Conference champ because of his intelligence, social activism and charitable work…as well as his success on the court.”
Brown has played a crucial role in Boston’s playoff success this season as they prepare to face Golden State in the NBA Finals. Despite averaging 23.6 points per game with a 47.3 field-goal percentage in the regular season, Brown has often played second-fiddle to teammate Jayson Tatum. West feels Brown is under-appreciated and will look to bring him to “superhero status”.
Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown supposedly assumed the role of president of Donda Sports back in February.
“We’re just excited about the Donda Sports brand, and making this thing a competitive sports brand to the athletes,”said Brown. “I don’t think there’s a lot of fashion lines for athletes, wearing fashionable and comfortable clothes, so with a guy like Kanye West, being able to partner with him and work with him to provide more creative, genius ideas for fashion looks for athletes in general… I’m just grateful for the opportunity here soon, to share what we’ve got with the world. And you guys are hearing it first, we got some exciting things to look forward to this year.”
With Brown set to make his Finals debut on Thursday, West will be hoping that Donda’s second signing will be yet another champion.
