The 2023 NBA 3-Point Contest will feature a star-studded field of sharpshooters. The shootout has taken over the dunk contest as All-Star Saturday’s marquee event in recent years as big-name players look to add a shooting title to their resumes.
The betting favorite to take home the crown in 2023 is 2020 champion Buddy Hield. The Indiana Pacers guard will be competing in the event for the third time. He’s having one of his best shooting seasons yet, draining 42.3% of threes on 9 attempts per game.
NBA 3-Point Contest Participants
Shams Charania confirmed the loaded field earlier in the week. Jayson Tatum and Damian Lillard are the biggest names on the list while four of the eight spots are occupied by the Pacers and Blazers.
Damian Lillard’s 11.0 three-point attempts per game ranks second in the NBA, behind Stephen Curry’s 11.4. He’s also third in the NBA this season for most three-pointers, only behind Curry and Klay Thompson.

Minnesota big man Karl-Anthony Towns took home the title last year despite coming in at +1200. The lone big man in the shootout this year will have the crowd’s backing. Utah’s Lauri Markkanen is shooting a career best 41.3% from downtown and is flourishing at Vivint Arena where the contest will be held.
Markkanen who will also be a first time All-Star, has made a three-pointer in each of his last 46 games. He would be the second Utah Jazz player to win the contest and the first since Jeff Hornacek in 1998.
