Donovan Mitchell made history earlier in the season by going off for 71 points. At the time it was the most points scored by an NBA player in 17 years.
Mitchell had less than two months to enjoy his record with Damian Lillard torching the Houston Rockets for 71 points.
The Cavaliers guard was quick to take to Twitter after Lillard capped off his record-breaking evening.
Other fans pointed out that Lillard scored his 71 points in regulation while Mitchell needed overtime to reach 71.
Mitchell will take some comfort in the fact that he has scored more point in a half than Lillard. He scored 42 points compared to Lillard’s 41 points. The Cavalier also hit double digit assists in when scoring 71 points, registering a career-high 11 assists compared to Lillard’s six assists.
