The Group E winners odds show a significant gap in expectations to top the group between Spain and Germany – both likely to progress – and Japan and Costa Rica.
Group E Winners Odds: Spain ahead of Germany
Group E houses two of the biggest teams in European football, 2010 World Cup champions and now FIFA world-ranked #6 Spain, and four-time World Cup winners #11 Germany (both teams climbing one notch in the most recent FIFA June rankings update). There’s not a lot in it in the group winners odds, with Spain only marginally favored. This is reflected in the outright winner market as well, where Spain is +800-850 and Germany just behind at +1000-1100.
Joining them is Japan (#24 from #23), and Costa Rica (#34, from #31), who beat New Zealand 1-0 courtesy of an early Joel Campbell goal in the third minute in the June intercontinental playoff.
The odds at our recommended top online sportsbooks don’t differ too much across the board for this one.
