Is Francis N’Gannou too one-dimensional to knock out Ciryl Gane?

Former UFC middleweight contender/owner of AKA Thailand Mike Swick sits down to analyze the heavyweight unification bout between Francis N’Gannou and Ciryl Gane taking place on Jan.22 at UFC 270.

Swick on Gane’s skillset compared to N’Gannou:

“The thing is N’Gannou’s got one big thing, his power. But he does get tired, he’s not as well-rounded. He can’t just knock people out forever. We’ve seen Mark Hunt. How long did that last? I mean, he’s a fantastic fighter for knockout power but you can’t have your whole career just about knockouts. 

“N’Gannou doesn’t have the sustainability to be a champ for a long time even if he stays the champ I don’t think he has the sustainability. Someone’s gonna be able to outwork him and I think Ciryl can do that. He knows he’s got the power, it’s no secret. That’s the big weapon. Stay away from the power, drag him into the deep water, and beat him. I think he can do it. 

Gane being able to surpass Cain Velasquez:

“This fight is gonna show a different level of  IQ. Cain has great Fight IQ. Cain’s fast. He’s very, very technical. Great boxer, great wrestler, very well-rounded, and he lost to N’Gannou.

“If Ciryl can go in there and use his IQ and out-strategize N’Gannou and win, then that kinda puts him above where Cain fought him at. Then I would say he has the potential to be that next big guy.”
