Kai Kara-France reveals the only chance Figueiredo has to take the title from Moreno

UFC flyweight contender Kai Kara-France, who is coming off a huge knockout win over former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt at UFC 269, breaks down the flyweight title fight between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno commencing on Jan.22 at UFC 270.

France breaks down Figueiredo vs Moreno 3:

“It’s a tough matchup but I feel it’s gonna go the same way. These guys have fought each other twice now. The reason why [UFC] gave Figueiredo the title shot again is because Alexandre Pantoja wasn’t available so they went with that fight. He’s training with [Henry] Cejudo and I saw Weili [Zhang] was doing it for her last fight. Her wrestling looked a lot better and that was a close fight against Rose [Namajunas]. I don’t know it’s enough to get the win against Brandon. He is crafty on the ground. Even though if you get him down, he’s good off his back. He submitted Figueiredo in their last fight so I feel like Figueiredo wants to keep it standing if he wants a chance.

“Against Moreno, I feel like he has to just put it on Moreno and get him hurt but this Mexican kid is tough. He’s hard to put away. I landed a few punches and dropped him a few times but he always managed to stay in it. I know he’s a lot better since I last fought him and I’m a lot better since we last fought. He’s definitely adapted and changed. Evolved his game. His standups a lot crisper and sharper. And his ground game has always been legit. Even in ‘The Ultimate Fighter’, he was always really strong on the ground and really crafty on the ground.”
