The UFC has been forced to remove a fight from its UFC Vegas 34 mixed martial arts (MMA) event scheduled for August 21, 2021, 7:00 PM EDT.
The scheduled bantamweight fight between Mana Martinez and Trevin Jones has been scrapped from UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs. Gastelum. Martinez withdrew from the bout for undisclosed reasons.
Had the fight taken place, the betting odds were in favor of Jones at -170 while Martinez was the betting underdog at +150.
Martinez was expected to make his UFC debut on this card after his previous opponent Jesse Strader pulled out. Martinez last appeared at Fury FC 46, defeating Jose Johnson via KO /TKO in a bantamweight bout. With that win, he extended his win streak to 2 straight.
Jones most recently appeared at UFC 259, taking on and defeating Mario Bautista via KO/TKO in a Bantamweight bout. Jones went into the fight as the +190 slight underdog. The win marked a return to the win column for Jones after a no-contest against Timur Valiev at UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs. Edgar.
UFC Vegas 34 will now proceed with 11 bouts. UFC is expected to announce the revised fight card shortly to make it official. This is the 4th fight to be canceled on this card.
UFC Vegas 34 is headlined by a middleweight fight between Jared Cannonier and Kelvin Gastelum.
