Norma Dumont is determined to be a star in the UFC.
Dumont will take on No.10-ranked bantamweight Aspen Ladd, who replaced Holly Holm due to injury, in the main event of UFC Vegas 40 on October 16 in a featherweight clash. The Brazilian is facing the biggest challenge of her burgeoning career and is primed to have her most outstanding performance to date.
“I feel the best I have ever felt physically, mentally, technically looking at my fight,” Dumont told The AllStar. “Things have never been better for me. I have so few problems. I’m so tranquil. I have such peace of mind in this final stretch leading up to the fight that it’s almost strange. It’s a strange place to be in but it’s a place that I’m delighted to be in.
“I’m 100% focused and I feel this is a fight that’s absolutely going to change my life. I want to put on a show. I want to show fans what I’m all about and to really win over the fight fans. It’s something fantastic for me, something I’m able to do. And I want to become a star.”
Dumont relocated to Las Vegas and is making massive strides on all fronts working with the UFC Performance Institute staff and training at Syndicate MMA. Working harder than the next fighter has been a motivating factor.
“Technically and physically I was referring before to my evolution and how I have been improving fight on fight,” she added. “And I feel I’ve continued on that upward trend. I feel I’ve been developing more and more and that I have even more to offer in that sense.
“To be honest, I see that’s not really something that the other fighters necessarily have. That’s an advantage that I have over my competitors that I see. I want to take this opportunity to display or to showcase a more aggressive Norma, a more technical Norma, and a Norma who is only going to get better and better.”
