Welterweight power-house, Jack Della Maddalena has passed the “[Russian] wrestler test” at UFC 275, opposite Ramazan Emeev.
In his sophomore UFC performance, the 25-year-old Australian escaped a close-call early submission attempt, only to leave his opponent folded over on the canvas after a body shot found it’s intended target, the Russian’s liver, a minute later.
The referee was forced to step in after ‘Della’ landed two further blows to his incapacited dance-partners head.
When Daniel Cormier quizzed Maddalena on Emeev’s early choke attempt in the post-fight interview, he claimed he was confident he would escape.
“I just knew it would take time,” he told Cormier.
The Australian looks to have fed off the energy of the Singapore crowd in this most recent performance, and added that his team-mates in the crowd gave him further confidence heading into his second showing in the promotion.
“I walked out and I saw my boys… That gave me the energy to knock him out cold”
Now with 12 straight wins, and two inside the UFC, Maddalena is eager to capitalise further on the hype behind him, and is looking for another fast turn-around; so much so that he claimed he was ready to go again that night.
“If anyone pulls out tonight, I’m ready to go,” he quipped to DC while still inside the Octagon.
