William Knight tests skills with Maxim Grishin at UFC 271. The light-heavyweight clash emanates from Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on February 12th.
The AllStar’s John Hyon Ko spoke with Knight ahead of this prizefight.
Monstrous Performance
Knight’s bout prediction had a level of electricity coursing through it that might lead one to infer we have a potential fight of the night on our hands here.
“I’m telling you imma knock him out. Imma be the surprise knockout. Imma knock him out. There’s no way I’ll allow this man to knock me out. I’m gonna knock him out. Whether it’s standing or on the ground. I don’t know where the fight’s going to go. But I’m going in to kill. I’ve never felt this efficient and monstrous before. I feel crazy and I want to put it to the test.”
More Plates, More Dates
The hulking physique of Knight has led to social media interactions with people trolling him with steroid accusations.
A particular saga with a Fitness Youtuber seemed to elicit a strong reaction from the rising UFC light heavyweight.
“You got idiots like More Dates, More Plates. That guy, he sat there and made some whole video about me. He still never gave the people an answer because he doesn’t fuckin’ have one. That shit’s beautiful. Saying I don’t know if this guy’s using. He may be, he may be not. Bro, you did that shit for views. You did that shit for views. You’ve got my Instagram. You can video chat me like anyone else. We can talk, bro. We can talk.”
“But do you do that? No, you just make a video and assume. Instead of going live and letting the people ask the question. I’m 33 years old. I don’t know anything about all that stuff. Like performance-enhancement drugs and all that shit. I’ve only learned of it now because I had to for USADA for those videos. That’s the most knowledge I know is those videos. The UFC actually taught me what that shit can do. Why it’s bad to use it. That’s it.”
Knight’s Block
Some unnecessary negative attention came Knight’s way in the wake of that particular episode of social media scuffling.
This did little to dissuade Knightmare in his fervent pursuit of growth within his combative career.
“Yeah he did and it’s all good. Now everybody who jumps on my page puts a picture of needles. They say I’m on gear and they don’t even follow my page. So you know what I’ve been doing? I think I have over three thousand people blocked right now.”
“I had like 35,000 followers and now I have 3,000 something. Because I blocked everyone. People think I need them, I don’t. My following will grow after this fight because I’m going to do something they’ve never seen before.”
